by Member on May 7, 2024 Practical tips for intervention by Member on April 18, 2024

Some practical ideas to implement and child friendly language/materials. It is a little disappointing to see some disparaging of other handwriting programs in the attempt to promote this program. I believe this is a good program that can stand on its own merits without disparaging other programs. The reality is, the more tools we have the better we can service those we work with in OT. Nothing is a one size fits all.

by Jacob on April 18, 2024

I was very impressed with the general education concepts that could easily be integrated into any classroom. I contacted my supervisor for materials to experiment with after listening to this CEU.

by Sarah on April 17, 2024

The SMHP approach addresses handwriting legibility from a novel perspective relative to other handwriting programs. It also has research to back up the clams. I look forward to trying this approach with students on my caseload.

The course felt more infomercial style than educational. The products advertised are not necessary to implement the strategies.

Nice overview and introduction to a great program! I already use a lot of my own strategies related to size of letters and I think I'm going to like the materials from this program as well as its central message and concepts. The presenter was effective, added a little humor and seemed like they enjoy what they do. At times it felt a little self-promoting, but not too bad and the positives certainly outweighed that.

In fact, after taking the other SMHP course, I allowed a student to grade my work and he was so excited by this that it was by far the best session we have had for working on handwriting. I feel very empowered after this course!
