CLEAR LAB Participates in 10th Seminar of the Brazilian Network of Monitoring and Evaluation

Lycia Lima, Deputy Director of CLEAR LAB, a GEI Implementing Partner, and Gabriela Lacerda, Institutional Relations Manager at CLEAR LAB, participated on the 10th Seminar of the Brazilian Network for Monitoring and Evaluation (RBMA). This year’s main theme was "Evaluation as Practice for Social Justice." The event brought together dozens of monitoring and evaluation professionals, public managers, researchers and students in virtual roundtables and for presentations on various aspects of the field of monitoring and evaluation (M&E). The event took place on September 14 and 15, 2022.

Lycia Lima, who also teaches at the São Paulo School of Economics at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EESP), presented a virtual booth about the work of CLEAR LAB and the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) in promoting M&E culture and practices around the world. She also spoke about the launch of the new area of focus of FGV EESP's Professional Masters in Finance and Economics program, being offered in partnership with CLEAR LAB, which aims to provide in-depth training to professionals working in the design and the monitoring and evaluation of public policies.

Gabriela Lacerda participated in the round table discussion "Professionalization of The Evaluation Field: How Do We Train?" She presented CLEAR LAB’s work in supporting the training and development of evaluation competencies in Lusophone African countries and in Brazil, highlighting projects developed by CLEAR LAB and GEI in these countries. "The training of evaluators is a central issue if we want to advance the field of M&E," said Lacerda, who also presented advances in this area at different levels of government and with other audiences, such as third sector professionals and academics. She also shared the experiences of the technical assistance services developed by the CLEAR LAB team with partners in the countries where CLEAR LAB operates, as well as the development of M&E guides and other initiatives, such as the Rapid Evaluation Call. The event was an important opportunity to disseminate the work being developed by CLEAR LAB and GEI in Brazil and Lusophone Africa to a wider audience, as well as connect with other professionals in the field.
